When it comes to SaaS link building in particular and my link building service in general, we are really good at it because we are able to secure backlinks from the other SaaS companies.
However, if you are not looking to actively build links at the moment, I invite you to invest in your long-term content strategy by creating the following 8 types of content that bring in links…passively!
After all, creating new content is a huge starting point for making SEO work for your SaaS.
Also, make sure you do things right by avoiding these typical link building mistakes SaaS brands commit OR might need to disavow backlinks to help your SEO.
And now – let’s get going…
1. Careers Pages
Any SaaS company looking to grow, should be attracting top-tier talent.
Obviously, you’d look for it using all sorts of methods – word of mouth, recruiting agencies, LinkedIn etc…
However, no matter how you end up expanding your team, you should always create a careers page that represents your SaaS brand’s demands.
Careers pages naturally attract links so creating one early on is good thinking for any SaaS company’s backlink acquisition strategy in the long-run!

2. Integrations Pages
Naturally, you want your software to work with other software and, on order to let the world know about that, you need to create the integrations page!
This is the page that features all the other online tools your software can work with.
List them and…see the links pouring in as your SaaS company grows!
PRO TIP: include an individual page for every integration and link it back to the original integrations page that features all the tools in one place!
3. Discount Page for Nonprofits
Offer your SaaS to nonprofits with a significant discount!
To do it, create a landing page that specifically describes what you are doing and who that is for.
Then…watch the backlinks appear with time!
PRO TIP: you can also extend your offer to college students and professors! Search for “students-only” university discount pages and reach out to those in charge to have it updated in order to include a link to your SaaS!
4. Calculators & Giveaway Tools
Any online tool (like ChatGPT for SEO) naturally generates inbound backlinks and this is something you’d want to capitalize on early if you are looking to acquire best quality SEO backlinks…all naturally!
Does anyone in your field require to estimate anything?
This is when you can design a live calculator that would do just that!
Another option is to design a “giveaway tool” which may well be exactly what your software is doing but without most of the features.
Ahrefs does it really well with their DR checker, which is a tiny bit of functionality their software actually offers.
Nonetheless, DR checker is still a little standalone tool that’s good enough to generate tons of backlinks!
5. Down Page
This is one of the more rare options but it’s a still viable way to acquire backlinks…on autopilot!
All you need is to create a page that acts as a place where users can go to check whether is down or not.
“Down report” pages acquire a large number of external backlinks naturally.
Besides that, they also are a great way to improve your customer satisfaction and communication while reducing pressure on your customer service (as there would be less inquiries).
6. Templates
People tend to find shortcuts to certain things very useful because…they save time!
And additional time provides us with a lot of value.
Templates are a great way to help people save time (because people can use them right away) so writing an article that includes a selection of templates (for whatever cause they are applicable in your case) is a great way to acquire backlinks.
On top of that, you can easily convert this post into a freebie by adding additional templates into it.
7. Goals
A very interesting, less obvious example of content that acquires backlinks – goals!
People need help setting goals, and providing examples can help big time.
In fact, you’d even get links pouring to those posts.
I know, a post about goals can be somewhat hard to do in a SaaS context but I’d find a way to spin it based on what my target audience is looking for.
8. Collection Lists (best)
Good ol’ “best” review-type articles…can be surprisingly useful for passive natural link building in SaaS space.
All you need to do is properly review whatever you are including in the list!
On top of that, you can further make your list stand out by focusing it on a key demographic.
Here are some examples:
- elderly
- vegans
- remote workers
These are just some examples to get your mind thinking!

All of the above examples can also be seen as linkable assets or link-worthy content that we use a lot when stealing competitors’ backlinks.
