Every month we acquire backlinks for SaaS companies.
It’s a lot of work and we need some tools that help to do that at scale.
In this post, I share the most important 6 that I recommend you also use.
1. Automatic Email Finder
Before you can pitch a website whatever you have, you need to be able to reach out to them and that…requires an email!
Manual email finding is not hard but it’s time-consuming…especially once you do it at scale.
This is when email-finding software comes in.
The most widely-known option is Hunter.io.
It has a very high accuracy of finding emails and also helps to verify them before you send anything out.
This helps a lot with deliverability and speed of link acquisition (because you are not wasting time reaching out to non-existent emails).
So Hunter helps to find those emails in bulk which is great because all you need is copy/paste a list of URL/domains and it spits out whatever it can find.
Granted, it’s not accurate every single time so you will still need to find certain emails manually but…it’s far less work.
2. Email Outreach Tool
As we send a lot of emails on a daily basis, we need a special kind of link building tool that would allow us to do that effectively and at the lowest cost possible.
There are numerous outreach tools on the market and I’ve personally gone through a fair share of those in the past.
Here they are:
- Gmass
- Mailshake
- NinjaOutreach
- Lemlist
- PitchBox
- YAMM
- Mailmeteor
For the past year, we’ve been using Gmass heavily and that’s the tool I recommend at the moment.
Sure, it has the whackiest user experience ever but…it does the job well.
In fact, you can see it as a powerhouse of cold email outreach because it’s so “rough”.
Perhaps, that’s the reason why it has these new features constantly popping up which is a great sign for any tool.
Another great thing – it offers a significant amount of options free of charge (including the free email warmup tool) and has a nice set of features you can pre-program (e.g. sending out emails with random intervals).
If you are just starting out and/or looking for a basic outreach tool for your own SaaS, Gmass is the tool I’d go with.
3. GlockApps

No matter what your link building strategy is, as you send more and more cold emails, your sender score decreases.
You burn your IP and your deliverability diminishes and…this is when GlockApps comes in.
Use this tool to check how well your emails get delivered.
When I first tried it, I was shocked to learn that only 40% of our emails get delivered (that’s 60 out of 100 emails that went to spam box).
Since then we were able to improve our deliverability immensely – it’s at ~95% now (the improvement came largely as a result of using email verifier, so I recommend it once again).
4. Ahrefs
You can’t talk about backlink building and never mention Ahrefs, which is the one single tool that the link building process depends on.
You need it for two reasons:
- Actually, find backlink opportunities by stealing competitor backlinks
- Assess backlink quality by using the combination of DR and estimated organic traffic; I covered that heavily in my SaaS link building guide
It’s also the most expensive tool in the pack but, as I said, you can’t really substitute it with anything because it’s really good.
5. Google Spreadsheets
Another link building tool that we use internally and externally for client reporting – good old Google Spreadsheets!
We maintain a link building database for every client by including target URLs that require attention, outreach prospects, their email addresses, details of links placed, and so on.
The reporting sheet, the one that our SaaS company client has access to, is then synced with the main database.
It means that our client can check it out whenever they want to get the latest updates for the campaign!
6. ChatGPT for SEO
Now that this AI is out there, it’s a shame to NOT use it for SEO!
It can do a whole range of things that I use for SEO and link building purposes:
- Create outreach templates
- Create follow-ups
- Come up with seed keywords
- Correct spelling and a lot more
